FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most from East Valley homeowners. Don't see yours? Just call — we're happy to help.
How much does an AC repair cost?
+
Our diagnostic service call is $89, and that fee is waived if you approve the repair. Once we diagnose the problem, we give you a flat-rate price for the full repair before any work begins — so you know the total cost up front, with no surprises and no billing by the hour.
Do you offer emergency or 24-hour service?
+
We do not offer 24-hour or emergency after-hours service. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and we are closed on weekends. However, after-hours and weekend calls are still answered, and we'll book you for the next available opening. Urgent no-cooling calls get first priority the next business morning, and seniors 65+ and households with infants or medical needs get priority on those calls.
How often should I service my AC in Arizona?
+
In the Phoenix area, we recommend a professional tune-up twice a year — once in the spring before cooling season and once in the fall before heating season. Desert dust, extreme summer heat, and heavy run time wear systems fast, so twice-yearly maintenance keeps your system efficient and helps prevent mid-summer breakdowns.
How long does an AC system last in Phoenix heat?
+
Most central AC systems in the Valley last about 10 to 15 years. The extreme summer heat and long run times shorten the life compared to milder climates. With regular maintenance you can push toward the higher end of that range, but once a system passes 12–15 years, repairs get more frequent and replacement usually makes more sense.
Repair or replace — how do I decide?
+
A good rule of thumb: if a needed repair costs roughly half the price of a new system, or your unit is over 10–12 years old and breaking down often, replacement is usually the better value. We'll give you an honest assessment of both options — including the cost of the repair versus a new high-efficiency system — so you can decide with no pressure. Every replacement comes with a free in-home estimate.
What size AC does my home need?
+
AC sizing is measured in tons and depends on your home's square footage, ceiling height, insulation, windows, sun exposure, and ductwork — not just square footage alone. We perform a proper load calculation during your free in-home estimate so your new system is sized exactly for your home. An oversized system short-cycles and never dehumidifies; an undersized one runs constantly and still can't keep up.
Do you work on mini-splits and heat pumps?
+
Yes. We install and service ductless mini-splits and heat pumps, including all major brands like Mitsubishi and Daikin. Mini-splits are a great fit for room additions, converted garages, casitas, or homes without ductwork, and heat pumps are an efficient option for both heating and cooling in the desert.
How often should I change my filter?
+
In Arizona's summer, we recommend checking your filter every month and replacing it every 1 to 2 months during heavy cooling season — more often if you have pets, dust, or allergy concerns. A dirty filter restricts airflow, drives up energy bills, and is one of the most common causes of AC problems in the Valley.
Why is my AC running but not cooling?
+
The most common causes are a dirty air filter, low refrigerant from a leak, a frozen indoor coil, or an outdoor condenser that's dirty or blocked. First check that the thermostat is set to cool and the filter is clean, and make sure the outdoor unit has clear airflow. If it still isn't cooling, give us a call — we'll diagnose it for $89 (waived with an approved repair) and give you a flat-rate price to fix it.
Why is water leaking from my AC?
+
Water leaking usually means a clogged condensate drain line or a frozen coil that's melting. In Arizona, dust and mineral buildup clog the drain line frequently. You can try clearing the drain with a wet vacuum, but if it keeps leaking, turn the system off to avoid water damage and call us. A tune-up includes clearing and checking the condensate line.
What should I check before calling?
+
Before you call, check four things: (1) make sure the thermostat is set to cool and the temperature is set lower than the room, (2) check your circuit breaker and reset it if it's tripped, (3) replace a dirty air filter, and (4) make sure the condensate drain line isn't clogged. If you've checked all of these and the system still isn't cooling, it's time to call us.
Do you offer financing?
+
Yes. We offer financing on new system installations with approved credit, including options as low as 0% for 12 months. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover, plus checks and cash. Payment is due when the job is complete.
